Our client was a back seat passenger of a work vehicle when the car was involved in an accident. Our client was a landscaper by trade.
The client got struck from behind and rear-ended by a Florida driver who wasn’t paying attention, which caused significant damage to both vehicles. Our client suffered both lower back and left shoulder injuries as a result of the car accident.
Our client was not aware of the fact that because he was injured during work, he was entitled to Worker’s Compensation for his treatment. We informed him of his rights and options, and we made sure that the proper documentation was completed and that our client went through the proper doctors, etc. on the Worker’s Compensation plan.
Once his injuries were resolved, our client had all his doctor bills paid by the Worker’s Compensation Insurance Carrier. He also got a check for $7,500 for his pain and suffering from the car accident.
Initially, the client also didn’t know that we could continue with another case against the actual automobile that caused the initial injuries…..this is called a “third party claim”.
On behalf of our client, we filed a lawsuit against the insurance company of the driver who was at fault for the car accident. Once we finished up the third-party car crash claim, our Coral Springs Law office was able to get another settlement for $50,000. Needless to say, the client was thrilled that he was able to get some money ($7,500) from the Worker’s Compensation Insurance Company as well as another $50,000 from the initial person that caused the crash with the work vehicle.
