It is a great question! The answer is a typical attorney one, “it depends.”
It depends if you are seriously injured after the car accident and if you are really hurt badly. If the injuries appear to be serious, then go to the hospital no questions asked. I was in an accident many years ago, and I was seriously hurt…I went right to the hospital by ambulance.
However, if there is a way that you can avoid the hospital, I would also seriously consider it. The reason for that is because the hospital is expensive and your “no-fault” or “PIP” coverage in Florida might get used very quickly by going to the hospital.
One may want to try and consider not going to the hospital if it makes sense. Instead, one might consider going to an urgent care center or something of that nature as the “no-fault” or “PIP” coverage will not all be used up typically from those facilities. Generally speaking, you should always receive medical treatment after being in a car accident, even if your injuries appear to be small.
